ABOUT US
Founded in 2006 by Gina Amato and Carol Harvey, the Catawba Area Coalition for the Homeless (CACH) emerged as a vital organization in addressing homelessness in Chester, Lancaster, and York counties. CACH took on the essential role of advocating for safe, affordable housing while working closely with local agencies to enhance their understanding of available resources and facilitate effective referrals. With a primary focus on homeless prevention, CACH recognized the urgent requirement for emergency shelters in the community. As we continue to grow, our aim is to expand our capacity to meet the increasing demands and combat homelessness in the region.
OUR MISSION
To strengthen our homeless response system by fostering collaboration and delivering effective solutions that reduce the duration of time individuals and families experience homelessness in Chester, Lancaster, and York counties.
OUR VISION
That experiences of homelessness be rare, brief, and non-recurring.
WAYS WE HELP
The Focus of Our Efforts
INNOVATION
Researching & Implementing Solutions
We collect and report on data, promote evidence-based pilot initiatives, including funding strategies, and research and present creative evidenced-based solutions to issues surrounding homelessness.
EDUCATION
Creating Opportunities
We raise the collective knowledge about homelessness among stakeholders, community members, and partners. We work to create educational opportunities to equip people with compassionate tools and best practices to end homelessness.
COLLABORATION
Fostering Relationships
We foster relationships and partnerships with diverse groups to share expertise, perspectives, and resources to support the strategic plan. Engage with a wider community base to share perspectives, circulate information, problem-solve, and develop resources.
ADVOCACY
Informing Policymakers
We develop and promote a policy agenda based on the goals outlined in the strategic plan and evidenced based interventions from the innovate workgroup. We inform policymakers about policy changes that need to be addressed for the well-being of individuals who are unhoused.
